Pick of the Week: 1968 Dodge Coronet Super Bee

For the first entry in our new ClassicCars.com feature, Pick of the Week, we have a popular low-mileage piece of classic Mopar muscle that the seller claims to be an all-original car in great shape.  The blue 1968 Dodge Coronet Super Bee coupe has just 30,843 miles on its odometer, and it is a numbers-matching car with black interior and bench seat, according to the seller in Fulton, Missouri.

In the sparse description for the Super Bee, the seller left out an important piece of information: Does the car have the standard 383 Magnum V8 rated at 335 horsepower or the 426 Hemi with 425 horsepower? At the asking price of $36,000, it is most likely the former. Not a huge issue since the 383 is a gutsy engine that would provide plenty of performance.

The car does have a four-speed manual, which on this model came standard with Hurst Competition-Plus shifter and linkage.

The Super Bee, introduced for 1968 when the Chrysler’s B-body cars were made over in a sleeker style, was a modestly priced muscle car that retailed for just over $3,000. Designed for the Dodge dealers who had eyed the success of the Plymouth Roadrunner, it was basically a high-performance, heavy-duty version of the stripped-down Coronet. The Super Bee, instantly recognizable by its bumblebee tail stripe, was produced through 1971.
